On Thursday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla alleging an assault on him during the protest between the ruling party and the opposition.
INDIA party members marched from the statue of Dr Ambedkar from Prerna Sthal to Makar Dwar this morning to protest against the illegitimate remarks made by Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in his speech in Rajya Sabha on December 17.
Kharge alleged that on reaching Makar Dwar he was pushed by BJP MPs coercing him to sit on the ground which injured his knee which had already undergone an operation earlier. He stated that afterwards Congress MPs brought a chair for him to sit and supported him to limp to his house at 11 AM.
Urging the Lok Sabha Speaker for an inquiry in this matter he wrote, “I urge you to order an inquiry into this incident which is an assault not just on me personally but on the Leader of the Opposition, Rajya Sabha and the Congress President.”
