New Delhi: Ahead of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a grand and seamless celebration across the national capital.

In line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to popularize yoga as a global movement for holistic well-being, the NDMC has made elaborate preparations for yoga sessions at eight major locations within its jurisdiction.

On the eve of the 11th edition of IDY, NDMC Vice Chairperson Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal conducted a comprehensive review of the arrangements at various designated venues.

The inspection covered key elements such as logistics, infrastructure readiness, on-site signage, participant mobilization, and coordination with partnering yoga institutions. Senior officials and Heads of Departments from NDMC accompanied him during the visits to assess and ensure readiness.

During the inspection, Shri Chahal emphasized that this initiative is deeply aligned with the broader national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, where health and wellness are vital to creating a prosperous and progressive India.

“Yoga is not just a physical exercise; it is a holistic discipline that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit. Promoting yoga is key to building a healthier and more aware population, which is the backbone of a developed nation,” he stated.

The main yoga events are scheduled to take place on June 21st at eight iconic sites within the NDMC area: Kartavya Path (South Lawn), Lodhi Garden, Talkatora Garden, Shanti Path Lawn, Central Park at Connaught Place, Pandara Park, New Moti Bagh (IAS Residential Complex), and Sanjay Jheel in Lakshmi Bai Nagar.

These venues have been carefully selected to accommodate participants from various backgrounds, creating a collective atmosphere of unity and wellness. Shri Chahal also noted that a number of dignitaries and well-known personalities are expected to join the celebrations at different venues, participating in yoga sessions alongside citizens.

He stressed the importance of ensuring meticulous arrangements, particularly concerning crowd management, safety, and overall experience.

“Every site must meet the highest standards in terms of security and participant comfort. The presence of VVIPs requires extra coordination and vigilance,” he remarked.

The yoga sessions will be held in partnership with reputed institutions such as the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Art of Living Foundation, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, and Gayatri Parivar, among others. These organizations are contributing trained instructors, volunteers, and logistical support to facilitate smooth execution of the event.

Each location is expected to host between 300 and 2,000 participants, encompassing NDMC staff, school children, senior citizens, resident welfare associations, and the general public.

The NDMC has arranged for the live streaming of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address on the occasion, alongside the distribution of yoga mats and commemorative T-shirts. Digital branding, LED screens, and other promotional materials will also be installed at the venues to create an engaging atmosphere.

Shri Chahal assured that NDMC has completed comprehensive preparations at all locations and is coordinating closely with the Ministry of AYUSH to ensure the availability of trained yoga instructors and volunteers.

He also encouraged residents of Delhi to actively participate in the celebrations and integrate yoga into their everyday routine. “A society that is physically fit, mentally resilient, and spiritually conscious can become the foundation of a truly developed India,” he said.

The International Day of Yoga 2025 promises to be a vibrant, inclusive, and impactful celebration in the heart of the national capital, reflecting India’s ancient wisdom and its contemporary relevance in today’s fast-paced world.
