New Delhi: In a heartwarming gesture that highlighted the spirit of Rakshabandhan, NDMC Vice Chairman Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal celebrated the festival with the students of Navyug School, Mandir Marg, spreading joy and reinforcing the values of care, protection, and unity.

The celebration was marked by warmth, colour, and heartfelt emotions, with the presence of Smt. Kritika Choudhary, Director (Education), and other senior officials from the Education Department. The school premises came alive with festivity and enthusiasm as students, teachers, and officials gathered to mark the occasion.

The event began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Shri Chahal, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge and goodwill. The children welcomed the dignitaries with a melodious song that set a cheerful tone for the celebration.

This was followed by a patriotic performance by the students, evoking a sense of pride and collective identity among all present.

As part of the Rakshabandhan ritual, the students tied colourful rakhis on Shri Chahal’s wrist, conveying heartfelt messages of love, trust, and protection. The symbolic act reflected not only the essence of the festival but also the nurturing relationship between public representatives and the younger generation.

In return, Shri Chahal interacted warmly with the children, offering his blessings and distributing chocolates and small gifts, making the day truly special for the young participants.

The school also organized a vibrant exhibition that showcased the creativity and artistic talents of its students. On display were handmade artworks, craft items, and educational projects that captured the imagination and innovation of the children. Shri Chahal appreciated the exhibits and praised the students for their originality and efforts.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Chahal shared his thoughts on the deeper meaning of Rakshabandhan. “Rakhi is more than a thread; it symbolizes a commitment to protect, support, and uplift each other,” he said.

“This festival reminds us of our responsibilities, not just within families, but also towards society, institutions, and the children who are the future of our country.”

He further added that the occasion served as a beautiful example of how festivals can be used as platforms to strengthen the emotional and moral foundations of society.

“The bond between the administration and students should be built on trust, care, and mutual respect. Events like these bridge that gap and foster a deeper understanding of our roles in each other’s lives,” he said.

Following the celebrations, Shri Chahal, accompanied by Smt. Kritika Choudhary, took a tour of the school campus. They interacted with teachers and staff to better understand the infrastructural and academic needs of the school. Discussions focused on ways to further improve the learning environment and support systems for students and faculty alike.

The visit left a lasting impression on the students. Many expressed their joy and gratitude for the Vice Chairman’s personal involvement in the celebration. “Tying Rakhi to Shri Chahal Sir was like tying it to an elder in our own family,” said one student with pride. “He treated us with such affection, and it made us feel truly valued.”

Teachers and staff members also appreciated the initiative, stating that such engagements create positive motivation among students and help them feel more connected to the broader system of governance and public service.

The Rakshabandhan celebration at Navyug School stood out not only for its festive charm but also for its focus on fostering meaningful connections between the administration and the youth.

The event reflected NDMC’s commitment to nurturing the emotional well-being of children, while also recognizing the role of schools as integral community institutions.

Through his participation, Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal exemplified leadership that is compassionate, accessible, and responsive—qualities that make a lasting difference in the lives of young citizens.
