Devendra Fadnavis will take the oath as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister on December 5. In a party meeting with members mainly, Amit Shah, Eknath Shinde and Fadnavis unanimously the decision of CM was already taken. PM Modi and RSS also backed the decision and were in this favor.
In the Maharashtra election which was held on November 20, the BJP secured 132 of the state’s 288 assembly seats, achieving its best-ever showing in the state. The BJP has emerged as the biggest winner with 236 seats, the ruling coalition, Mahayuti , retained power in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the swearing-in ceremony, which will take place on Thursday in Azad Maidan in Mumbai. This was clear in BJP’s core committee meeting held ahead of the legislature party meeting. Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman, former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani and Devendra Fadnavis were present in the BJP’s core committee meeting.
