The counting of votes began at 8 am and the fate of the “Mahabharta” between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will be decided today. The early trend shows Mahayuti ahead of MVA. The total number of assembly seats in Maharashtra is 288, making 145 the halfway mark. Compared to 61 % in the 2019 state elections, this time it soared up to 66.05 % in 2024. Maharashtra went to the polls in a single phase on 20 November.
The big political stalwarts of Mahayuti, which comprises of BJP, NCP (Ajit Pawar Camp) and Ekanth Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and MVA (Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s NCP), have managed to pull voters. Already, with Baba Siddique gunned down ahead of elections and Anil Deshmukh attacked in Nagpur, proved how elections in India is a battleground full of anguish. In adding fuel to the fire, BJP leader Vinod Tawde was allegedly distributing cash.
In the present scenario, the trend shows the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance was ahead in 173 of the 288 seats, as per PValue while, the Maha Vikas Aghadi leads in 38 seats, the 12 seats were led by the other parties.
The BJP contested 149 assembly seats, Shiv Sena 81 seats, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP fielded candidates in 59 constituencies. Latest update shows that Mahayuti is set for massive Maharashtra Mandate.
