The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Legislature Party Leader of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the 21st Chief Minister on Thursday (December 5, 2024) evening in a grand ceremony at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, witnessed by thousands.
Alongside Fadnavis, NCP leader Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde took oath as the Deputy CMs of Maharashtra. Both of them included their mothers’ names- Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde and Ashatai Anantrao Pawar- while taking oath.
Devendra Fadnavis gets his mother’s blessing ahead of swearing in as the CM of Maharashtra for the third time. “Charm of Maya! The beginning of a new season with the blessings of mother”, Fadnavis posted on X.
Reportedly, the swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union ministers, and several chief ministers representing the BJP and its alliance partners in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Several prominent Bollywood stars — Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, as well as former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar were seen attending the event.
