In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the state’s police force, the Uttar Pradesh government has moved 13 IPS officers, including those at the ADG, IG, and DIG levels. In a significant change to the state’s police administration, these policemen were ordered to be reassigned immediately late on Sunday night.
One of the most significant developments is the appointment of Dr. N. Ravindra, an IPS officer from the 1996 batch, to a new position in the Anti-Corruption Organization. Ravindra was previously the GSO of the Additional Director General of Police (ADG). This is a major change in his duties as he assumes a pivotal role focused on combating corruption.
The IG of Meerut, Nachiketa Jha, a 2003 batch IPS officer, has been moved to Lucknow and become the new Home Secretary. RK Bhardwaj, an IPS officer from the 2005 batch, was promoted from IG Basti to Inspector General of Police at Bhawan Kalyan, and Akash Kulhari, the Joint Commissioner of Police for Crime, was moved to IG Public Grievances.
Other key transfers also include big names. Amit Pathak, IG Public Grievance, has been appointed as IG of the Devipatan Zone in Gonda. Amarendra Prasad Singh has been moved from IG Devipatan to take on the role of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for Intelligence. Dinesh Kumar P has been transferred from Ghaziabad to Basti as DIG. Bablu Kumar, the Additional Police Commissioner of Gautam Buddha Nagar, has been made the Joint Police Commissioner for Crime and Headquarters. Keshav Kumar Chaudhary has been transferred to the role of DIG in Jhansi. Sanjeev Tyagi, DIG Intelligence, has been appointed as the Additional Police Commissioner of Agra. Kalanidhi Naithani, the DIG of Jhansi, will now take over as the DIG of Meerut Zone. Ajay Kumar, the Commander of the 32nd Battalion of the PAC, has been given the responsibility of In-charge Additional Police Commissioner in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
Every officer has been told to assume responsibility for their new responsibilities right away. With an emphasis on bolstering crucial sectors like intelligence, crime, and public concerns, this reorganization is anticipated to introduce new dynamics to the Uttar Pradesh Police.
