Manipur: Militant, Two Migrants Killed In Separate Incidents

Three people were killed in a shooting including the death of two migrant workers from Bihar and a militant worker in Manipur on Saturday evening. The shooting took place near the Panchayat office in Keirak on Kakching-Wabagai Road on Saturday evening at approximately 5:20 PM.

The deceased were identified as Sunalal Kumar(18) and Dasharat Kumar (17) from Rajwahi village of Gopalganj District in Bihar. They were a construction worker and were residing in Metei-dominated Kakching near the Panchayat office. The ethnic tensions between Kukis and Meitis are considered to be the cause of this incident

An earlier engagement with seven armed militants with Manipur Police Commandoes took place in Salungpham Maning Leikai in Thoubal district on Saturday morning. This started with the militants firing on the police commandoes. One armed militant was killed and the rest were arrested in this engagement. The deceased was identified as Laishram Priyam alias Loktak, 16, a member of the PREPAK outfit.

This comandos a breakthrough in this operation by discovering significant arms including three INSAS rifles, one AMOGH rifle, one .303 rifle, and one SLR rifle, along with various other magazines and ammunition.
