Manipur Police reported on Wednesday that security forces seized a huge number of arms and ammunition during search operations in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.
Police reported that from Thongkhonglok village in Bishnupur district, security forces on Tuesday confiscated one SLR with a magazine, one .303 rifle, one 12-bore single-barrel gun, two 9 mm pistols with magazines, one anti-riot gun, two INSAS LMG magazines, two INSAS rifle magazines, four hand grenades, one detonator, five anti-riot shells, ammunition, and other articles.
The security forces seized one anti-material rifle (AMR) sniper modified with a sight scope and magazine, two single bolt-action rifles, three 9mm pistols (country-made), one hand grenade, four MK-13Ts, and ammunition from the Leishangthem Ikop Pat area of Thoubal district.
Police said a member of the banned outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) engaged in extortion and was arrested at Mantripukhri Bazaar near Bengali Crossing in the Imphal East district on Tuesday. One 9 mm pistol with a magazine, two money receipts of KCP (PWG), and other articles were seized from him.
