Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minster and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati slammed Congress for its silence on atrocities against Bangladeshi Hindus. “Hindus are becoming victims of crimes in large numbers in the neighboring country Bangladesh. Most of them are Dalits and people from weaker sections…Congress party is silent and is now shouting ‘Be careful’ only for Muslim votes”, she said

Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, she expressed her sadness and emphasized that most of the minorities in Bangladesh are Dalits. BSP chief further held, Congress responsible for the sufferings and losses of Bangladeshi Hindus. She added that now just for vote bank, Congress is focusing on Sambhal.

She brought out the historical injustices that Dalits endured during India’s Partition. She claimed that the Congress purposefully gave Pakistan the Jessore-Khulna region of Bangladesh, which had a Hindu majority, during Partition. She claimed that this was a casteist political move meant to punish Dalits for choosing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to serve in the Constituent Assembly. Lashing out at SP and Congress she stated both are the sides of same coin.
