New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a significant visit to Bihar on July 18, where he will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹7,200 crore.

The event, scheduled to take place in Motihari around 11:30 AM, reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to transform infrastructure and uplift rural development across the state.

Major Rail Infrastructure Upgrades

In keeping with his vision of strengthening rail connectivity and creating a future-ready railway system, the Prime Minister will dedicate several critical rail infrastructure projects to the nation.

Among these is the automatic signalling between the Samastipur–Bachhwara rail line, which will improve train operations and reduce delays.

He will also inaugurate the doubling of Darbhanga–Thalwara and Samastipur–Rambhadrapur rail lines. These segments are part of the larger Darbhanga–Samastipur doubling project valued at over ₹580 crore and are aimed at increasing operational capacity.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for key new rail projects, including infrastructure for the maintenance of Vande Bharat trains at Patliputra.

The Bhatni–Chhapra Gramin rail line (114 km) will be equipped with automatic signalling, and traction system upgrades will allow for higher train speeds and energy-efficient operations.

Additionally, the Darbhanga–Narkatiaganj rail line doubling project worth ₹4,080 crore will significantly improve North Bihar’s connectivity to the rest of India.

Boost to Road Network

Bihar’s road infrastructure will also receive a major boost with the PM laying the foundation for the four-laning of the Ara bypass (NH-319), which connects the Ara–Mohania (NH-319) and Patna–Buxar (NH-922) highways. This strategic corridor will reduce travel time and enhance regional mobility.

He will also inaugurate the 4-lane Parariya to Mohania section of NH-319, built at a cost of over ₹820 crore. This will enhance both passenger and freight movement from Ara Town to the Golden Quadrilateral (NH-02). Furthermore, a 2-lane stretch with paved shoulders from Sarwan to Chakai on NH-333C will act as a critical link between Bihar and Jharkhand.

Support for the IT and Startup Ecosystem

Recognizing the growing importance of digital infrastructure and entrepreneurship, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility at Darbhanga and a state-of-the-art incubation facility in Patna.

These projects aim to promote the IT/ITES and ESDM (Electronics System Design & Manufacturing) sectors and foster a thriving startup ecosystem in Bihar.

Empowering Rural Economy Through Fisheries and Housing

A major push for the fisheries and aquaculture sector will come through the inauguration of various projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).

These include new fish hatcheries, ornamental fish farms, biofloc units, integrated aquaculture setups, and fish feed mills. Spread across various districts, these initiatives aim to generate employment, enhance fish production, and boost rural entrepreneurship.

Launch of New Amrit Bharat Trains

In line with enhanced railway mobility, four new Amrit Bharat trains will be flagged off by the Prime Minister. These include:

  • Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna) to New Delhi
  • Bapudham Motihari to Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal)
  • Darbhanga to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)
  • Malda Town to Lucknow (via Bhagalpur)

These trains will ensure faster connectivity and more comfortable travel for passengers across the region.

Women-Centric Welfare Initiatives

As part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), ₹400 crore will be disbursed to approximately 61,500 Self-Help Groups (SHGs), with a focus on women-led economic development.

The Prime Minister will also participate in the symbolic Griha Pravesh ceremony for 12,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin and release ₹160 crore for 40,000 housing beneficiaries.

This visit is expected to reaffirm the Centre’s commitment to inclusive development, connectivity, and women-led growth in Bihar.
