Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving the nation’s money to businessman Gautam Adani in the name of nation building. He said that the PM was “filling” his “friend’s pocket” in the name of “nation building.”

Rahul Gandhi, in a post on X, said, “If you ask questions in the country, there is silence. If you ask abroad, it is a personal matter! Even in America, Modi Ji curtains Adani Ji’s corruption!”

“When stuffing a friend’s pocket is ‘nation building” for Modiji, then taking bribes and looting the nation’s wealth becomes a ‘personal matter,” he added.

This comes after PM Modi’s response when he was answering a question on the corruption allegations during a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump.

PM Modi said, “And when it comes to such personal matters, two leaders of two nations will not get together on the subject and discuss anything on an individual matter.”

US prosecutors have prosecuted Gautam Adani, Indian businessman and Asia’s second-richest man, for allegedly aiding in collecting bribes of more than $250 million from officials in India and embezzling US investors.

In a five-count charge revealed on November 20, prosecutors claimed that Adani was part of an operation to “corruptly offer, permit, promise to pay, and pay bribes” of hundreds of millions of dollars to government officials in India. The Adani Group has rejected the accusations.
