Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the CRPF men who died in a terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama on this day in 2019, praising their unwavering patriotism.
“Homage to the courageous heroes we lost in Pulwama in 2019. The coming generations will never forget their sacrifice and their unwavering dedication to the nation,” he said in a post on social media.
“On the 6th anniversary of the Pulwama incident, we remember the 40 CRPF soldiers who gave their lives in service to India. This mournful day commemorates their bravery, the consequences of the tragedy, and India’s continuous fight against terrorism.”
A suicide bomber smashed his explosive-laden car into a bus transporting Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) members on February 14, 2019, killing 40 jawans. An ultra-modified car loaded with explosives attacked a CRPF convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
One of the most damaging assaults on the Indian security forces in recent years was this barbaric episode.
Due to the magnitude of the attack, there was a tremendous uproar throughout India, with people calling for violence in retaliation and justice.
It also served as a sobering reminder of the problems with terrorist organizations and cross-border terrorism in the region. Days later, India launched a retaliation attack, known as the Balakot airstrike.
