A heartbreaking incident occurred in New Orleans, killing 10 people and injuring 30 others. On Wednesday, 1st January 2025, around 3:00 am in the morning, in New Orleans’ French Quarter, a vehicle struck into a large crowd on Bourbon Street, resulting in the death of 10 people and injuring 30 others.
According to the eyewitness, the incident happened at 3:00 am local time at the intersection of Bourbon and Canal streets (a popular area for vibrant nightlife) when a vehicle rammed into the crowd. Witnesses described the scene as horrific, with people screaming and running, multiple people on the ground, and reports of gunfire.
Emergency rescue teams, including multiple EMS units, were quickly deployed to the scene to provide medical assistance to people and transport victims to nearby hospitals, including University Medical Centre, Touro Medical Centre, East Jefferson General Hospital, Ochsner Medical Centre Jefferson Campus, and Ochsner Baptist Campus.
A New Orleans police department officer was also reported injured. The investigation is ongoing.However, the police have not confirmed anything about gunfire or the driver’s identity.
The incident raised concerns among the citizens. The area remains cordoned off, and authorities are urging residents and visitors to avoid the area while emergency crews and investigators continue their work.
