The National Investigative Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted raids at 19 locations across Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh to investigate the radicalization of individuals from the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
The operation has taken place following the significant development in the interrogation of Sheikh Sultan Salahuddin Ayubi, also known as Ayubi’s case after his arrest for his involvement in a conspiracy case in October. 26 locations were raided in the operation to arrest him.
Several districts in Jammu and Kashmir, including Anantnag, Baramulla, and Budgam, have been raided. In Uttar Pradesh, raids have been conducted in locations linked to individuals suspected of supporting JeM. Several districts in Assam have also been raided.
The Agency is investigating the case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The raid is based on the allegations that Indian youths are being radicalized and are provided with ideological training and logistical support to carry out terror activities by the JeM operatives based in Pakistan.
