The Indian government has strongly refuted Canada’s allegations of involvement in the killing of a Canadian citizen, stating that Canada has presented “no evidence whatsoever” to support its claims. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh emphasized that Canada’s public narrative on the issue appears to be driven by an “anti-India separatist agenda”.
The diplomatic row between India and Canada has been escalating, with Canada accusing India of involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani terrorist. However, India has consistently denied these allegations, stating that Canada has failed to provide any concrete evidence to support its claims.
Singh also highlighted that the Indian government has taken note of the recent developments in criminal cases allegedly involving Indian citizens in the US and Canada. He assured that the government is committed to ensuring the welfare, safety, and security of Indian nationals residing in these countries.
The Indian government has also urged Canada to take action against anti-India elements operating from its soil. Singh emphasized that respect for each other’s concerns, territorial integrity, and sovereignty are essential for a stable bilateral relationship.
In response to concerns about the safety of Indian nationals in the US and Canada, Singh stated that issues faced by Indian nationals in these countries are brought to the attention of relevant authorities for swift redressal
