New Delhi: In a major breakthrough in its ongoing drive against street crime, the Delhi Police’s Bindapur team under Dwarka District has arrested two active criminals allegedly involved in a spate of snatchings and thefts across the city. The arrest marks a significant step in the district’s ongoing “No Guns, No Gangs” initiative aimed at dismantling criminal networks and enhancing public safety.
Acting on intelligence inputs and ground surveillance, the police arrested 23-year-old Md. Jafar alias Sahil alias Sonu, a listed Bad Character (BC) of PS Dabri, and his 19-year-old associate Kishor, a resident of Mahavir Enclave. The duo was apprehended in connection with multiple cases of snatching and vehicle thefts.
During the operation, the police recovered a country-made pistol with one live cartridge, a high-end stolen sports bike, and a snatched mobile phone from the accused. The motorcycle had been reported stolen from the Kirti Nagar area just days earlier.
Targeted Patrol Leads to Key Arrests
The arrests were made during night patrols on June 29 near Dust Land, Matiala. The Bindapur police team noticed a high-speed sports bike being driven suspiciously. The officers blocked its path using their own vehicle and questioned the riders. Upon failing to produce any documents for the bike, a cursory search was conducted which led to the discovery of a pistol and live ammunition.
The bike was later confirmed to be stolen in an e-FIR registered under PS Kirti Nagar (No. 16933/25). The immediate arrest of Md. Jafar led to the subsequent arrest of Kishor the following morning near Peerbaba, Bindapur, from whom a snatched mobile phone was recovered.
Experienced Offender Back in Crime
Md. Jafar, who has been involved in over 18 cases of snatching and theft, was recently released from jail about six weeks ago. Rather than seeking lawful employment, he resumed criminal activities and teamed up with Kishor to execute a series of thefts across southwest Delhi.
The duo reportedly focused on stealing high-end bikes and using them for swift getaways post-snatching. One of their recent crimes involved robbing a woman at Shanti Garden, Sahyog Vihar, where they snatched a purse containing a mobile phone and ₹2000 in cash.
Well-Coordinated Crackdown Team
The success of the operation is credited to a crack team from PS Bindapur comprising SI Kunal, HC Neeraj, HC Sajjan, HC Kuldeep, and constables Rajesh Dagar, Ashish, and Sandeep. The team worked under the leadership of Inspector Bijender and the overall supervision of ACP Usha Kumari Joshi.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy initiated by DCP Dwarka, IPS officer Ankit Singh, who launched the “No Guns, No Gangs” campaign to proactively curb gun violence and gang activity in the region.
Multiple Cases Solved
With these arrests, the police have made significant progress in solving several recent cases:
FIR No. 414/25, under the Arms Act, PS Bindapur (pistol recovery).
FIR No. 408/25, under relevant BNS sections, for mobile snatching.
FIR No. 16933/25, PS Kirti Nagar (bike theft).
FIR No. 404/25, PS Bindapur.
FIR No. 385/25, under 304(2) BNS, PS Bindapur.
Recoveries Made
- One country-made pistol with a live cartridge.
- One stolen motorcycle.
- One snatched mobile phone.
The operation has not only led to the recovery of stolen property but also taken two serial offenders off the streets, giving a strong boost to public safety in the Dwarka region.
Continued Vigilance Ahead
With a renewed emphasis on proactive policing and community safety, the Dwarka District Police continue to work toward a crime-free environment. More operations under the “No Guns, No Gangs” campaign are expected in the coming weeks as authorities aim to dismantle existing criminal infrastructure in the capital.
Further investigation into the accused and their potential involvement in other unsolved cases is underway.
