The Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal condemned Pakistan for airstrikes launched on Afghanistan in December. He claimed it to be an old practice for Pakistan to blame its neighbors.
Responding to media queries regarding airstrikes on Afghan civilians, Jaiswal acknowledged the airstrikes on Afghanistan resulting in the loss of civilians including women and children.
Criticizing the attack, Jaiswal said, “We unequivocally condemn any attack on innocent civilians. It is an old practice of Pakistan to blame its neighbors for its own internal failures.”
Pakistan launched airstrikes on Afghanistan in December targeting the armed group, Pakistan Taliban also known as TTP in the Paktika province of Barmal district. Taliban, the interim Afghan government confirmed the attack and announced the death of 46 people including men and children.
Following the attack, tensions escalated at the borders. Further, Taliban retaliated with a cross-border fire exchange resulting in the death of one paramilitary soldier and leaving seven others injured.
