The Winter Session of Parliament came to a close on Friday, marked by intense protests between the BJP and INDIA bloc over various issues, including the Adani bribery allegations and Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar.

Following the violent stand-off between the ruling and opposition parties on Thursday, the INDIA bloc members marched from Vijay Chowk to Parliament demanding the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah while the BJP members staged a protest near the Gandhi statue. The showdown on Thursday left BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge injured with both sides filing police complaints against each other.

The Winter Session was marked by significant legislative developments, including constitutional debates and the referral of the ‘One Nation, One Election’ legislation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). A no-confidence motion was also filed against Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The session was also marred by controversy, including bribery accusations against the Adani group and a mimic act by Congress members targeting Modi and Adani. Claims of a ‘Soros-Gandhi’ nexus further fueled tensions, culminating in a violent showdown between the ruling and opposition parties over Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. BR Ambedkar, which left several leaders injured.
