A jet crashed into the Potomac River in Washington, DC in the United States,. It’s still unclear how many people are on the commercial flight. As the aircraft approached Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, it collided with a helicopter in midair and crashed. The Potomac River is being scanned by rescue boats.
American Airlines Flight 5342 was the aircraft, and it had taken off earlier Wednesday from Wichita, Kansas. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane was trying to reach the Reagan airport when it crashed in midair with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter.
The incident is being looked into by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. According to American Airlines, it is aware of the accident.
Emergency personnel are presently engaged in rescue and recovery efforts, however the cause of the crash has not yet been determined. So far, no confirmed casualties have been reported.

Reports state that the airport, all take offs and landings have been suspended due to the disaster, but the terminal is still operational.
Additionally, the D.C. Metropolitan Police stated that they are investigating the jet crash. President Donald Trump has been informed about the tragedy, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
