Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for extensive talks on Saturday, the two countries decided to give their bilateral relations a new lease on life and particularly committed to collaborate in the fields of defense manufacture and supply chains.
The chief guest of Sunday’s Republic-Day festivities at Kartavya Path will be Subianto, who is now in India for three days. Modi characterized Indonesia as an “important partner” of India in the Indo-Pacific and the 10-nation ASEAN bloc in his media statement after the discussions, stating that both nations are dedicated to a rules-based order in the area.
Modi stated that we agree that the freedom of navigation should be ensured in line with international law. Worries about China’s escalating military displays in the Indo-Pacific area grew on a worldwide scale.
The Prime Minister announced that India and Indonesia have decided to collaborate on defense supply chains and manufacturing. “We held extensive discussions on various aspects of our bilateral ties,” he said.
Additionally, he stated that collaboration in cyber security, maritime security, counterterrorism, and deradicalization was emphasized by both parties. The Indian side of the negotiations also praised Indonesia’s accession to the BRICS.
The Indonesian leader called the discussions “very frank” and stated that both parties have decided to further collaboration in numerous important areas of shared interest.
“I have given directions to our officials that we need to accelerate the economic partnership with India,” Subianto stated.
