Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a jibe at the Leader of the Opposition at Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi over his ‘boring remark’ on the President’s address.
Replying to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in Lok Sabha, The PM said, “Those who get photo sessions done at the huts of poor people find talk on them boring.”
The PM further mentioned the steps taken by the NDA government in the last ten years which include the installation of water taps, the initiating of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) initiative, and the ‘JAM Trinity’ initiative which links Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhar cards, and mobile numbers for direct benefit to people.
Alluding to Rajiv Gandhi, the PM stated, “We used to have a prime minister who had a habit of saying Mr Clean. He had identified a problem and had said that if Re 1 went from Delhi, only 15 paise reached the villages. At the time, panchayat to parliament had only 1 party. Anyone can understand where the 85 paisa went.”
Countering Rahul Gandhi over carrying a copy of the constitution, he said, “Those who live with the Constitution in their pockets do not know what kind of difficulties you forced Muslim women to live in.”
He added, “For seven decades, J&K and Ladakh were deprived of their constitutional rights. This was an injustice not only to the Constitution but also to the people of these regions. Our Constitution does not give us the right to discriminate.
“For some people, speaking about caste is fashion. For the last 30 years, OBC MPs have been demanding that OBC Commission be granted Constitutional status. Those who see a benefit in casteism today did not think of the OBC community back then.” Modi said over Rahul’s remarks on OBC.
Highlighting the ruling party’s achievement in that regard he added, “We granted Constitutional status to the OBC Commission, SC, ST and OBC get more opportunities in every sector. We have worked very strongly towards this.”
