Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath stated that since morning, he received four calls from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the stampede situation in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. He stated that Governor Anandiben Patel, BJP President JP Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are receiving regular information.
According to him, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is keeping a careful eye on the situation and providing frequent updates. He further said that travelers should not insist on going to the Sangam Nose, which is regarded as a particularly sacred location for a holy plunge and is where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the legendary river Saraswati converge.
CM Yogi urged people to obey the administration’s directives and ignore rumors just hours after the stampede at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. According to Mr. Adityanath, hospitals are treating a number of people who were gravely hurt early today.
“There is a massive crowd. Nearly 8 crore pilgrims are currently in Prayagraj. Yesterday, about 5.5 crore pilgrims took the holy dip. There is a rush towards the Sangam. Between 1 am and 2 am, some people were seriously injured while scaling barricades. They have been rushed to hospital,” he said.
There is a large crowd, but the situation is under control presently. According to Mr. Adityanath, the local government has made a lot of preparations for the holy plunge during Mauni Amavasya and has asked for assistance.
“Saints have said that pilgrims will take the holy dip first and once they are done, saints will proceed to the sangam for snan,” Mr Adityanath said.
“I appeal to all devotees and saints not to heed rumours and to be patient. The administration is fully prepared to help them. Any negative rumour can cause harm,” he added.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that pilgrims should not insist on going to the Sangam Nose, which is regarded as a particularly sacred location for a holy bath and is where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the legendary river Saraswati converge. He added that people can take the holy dip wherever they are.
Going to the Sangam is not required; all of the ghats are part of the Ganga. We can guarantee a seamless holy dip for everyone if everyone works together and complies with instructions.
The Congress and Samajwadi Party are among the opposition parties that have attacked the Yogi Adityanath government, accusing them of causing the rush. According to the Congress, the rush was caused by “half-baked preparations and a focus on self-publicity.
The Samajwadi Party, Uttar Pradesh’s primary opposition party, has criticized the state government’s promises of “world-class arrangements” and stated that the Mahakumbh arrangements ought to be turned over to the Army.
