Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United States from February 12-13, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri declared on Friday.

Misri announced at a special briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), “PM Modi will pay an official working visit to the US on February 12 and 13. This will be the first visit of PM Modi to the US after the inauguration of the second presidential term of President Donald Trump. PM Modi would be among the first few world leaders to visit the US following the inauguration of President Trump.”

The declaration of PM Modi’s visit comes days after a White House official said that he was invited by President Trump.

Trump spoke with PM Modi on January 27 when he had a talk about immigration and highlighted the significance of India buying more American-made security equipment and fair bilateral trading ties.

President Trump said last month that he would host the Indian Prime Minister. “I had a long talk with him this morning, and he’s going to be coming to the White House in the next month, probably in February,” Trump told reporters.

This will be PM Modi’s first visit to the US after the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States on January 20.

This declaration comes days after a US military plane expelled Indians who had unlawfully immigrated to the United States.

PM Modi will travel to the US after visiting France from February 10-12, where he will be co-convener of the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris.
