Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to announce key infrastructure projects worth ₹5,000 crore for Bihar on his visit to Siwan on Friday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Siwan, Bihar, on Friday, where he will announce a range of development projects totaling over ₹5,000 crore. The visit to the state since taking office reflects the central government’s continued focus on boosting infrastructure and welfare programs in Bihar, particularly ahead of the upcoming elections.

As part of the visit, PM Modi will inaugurate or lay the foundation stone for 22 major projects across sectors such as water supply, sewage management, housing, transportation, and clean energy. He will also release ₹510 crore as the first installment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) to benefit over 51,000 beneficiaries, with more than 53,000 homeless families expected to receive financial assistance.

Among the prominent projects, the Prime Minister will flag off a new Vande Bharat Express train between Patliputra Junction in Patna and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. He will also inaugurate a new 29-km railway line between Vaishali and Deoria, which is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for several key water supply and sanitation projects, including the ₹69-crore Bettiah Water Supply Project in West Champaran, the ₹19-crore Chapra Water Supply Project in Saran, and the ₹138-crore Ara Water Supply Project in Bhojpur. Additionally, the Motihari Sewerage Management Project, pegged at ₹400 crore, aims to enhance sanitation infrastructure in East Champaran.

The inauguration of sewage treatment and network facilities in Digha and Kankarbagh zones of Patna, and the launch of a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across 15 substations with a funding support of ₹135 crore, further reinforce the government’s push for sustainable urban development.

The Prime Minister is also expected to inaugurate the first export-bound locomotive to Guinea from the Marhowra locomotive factory in Saran. His visit includes the launch of several projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and the Namami Gange initiative, focusing on rail and river-based infrastructure upgrades.

Party leaders say the PM’s visit underscores the NDA government’s commitment to development and social justice in Bihar. With both PM Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar leading the charge, the alliance hopes to build on its momentum in the poll-bound state.
