New Delhi: On the sacred occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, a grand Vedic and cultural program was organized at Arya Samaj Mandir, Jor Bagh. The celebration showcased the essence of Indian heritage, spirituality, and the reformist values of Arya Samaj, drawing a large gathering of devotees, scholars, social activists, and community leaders.

The event featured a rich blend of religious and cultural activities including bhajan sandhya, Vedic havan, Sanskrit shloka recitation, and discourses on the life and philosophy of Lord Krishna.

Teachings from the Bhagavad Gita were highlighted, offering the audience a message of spiritual wisdom and peace. Participants described the program as a meaningful confluence of tradition, devotion, and social awareness.

Leaders Emphasize Relevance of Vedic Principles

Parvesh Verma, Cabinet Minister in the Delhi Government, addressed the gathering as the chief guest. In his speech, he recalled the foundation of Arya Samaj and the social reform movement led by Swami Dayanand Saraswati.

He underlined the importance of returning to Vedic knowledge and traditions, while also emphasizing the continuing relevance of Krishna’s teachings.

“The Bhagavad Gita is not just a religious scripture, but the greatest guide for life. Its message on duty, action, and righteousness is eternal,” he remarked, drawing loud applause from the audience.

Adding to the discourse, Neeraj Baisoya, MLA from Kasturba Nagar, appreciated Arya Samaj for its consistent efforts in spreading truth, Vedic values, and awareness within society. He praised the organization for inspiring youth and families to reconnect with spiritual and moral teachings.

Former Union Minister Prof. Sompal Shastri elaborated on Swami Dayanand’s philosophy, pointing out that Arya Samaj continues to play an active role in nation-building by promoting education, moral values, and social reforms.

District President Ravindra Chaudhary also addressed the congregation. He described Lord Krishna as “a blend of consciousness, morality, and righteous deeds,” urging people to take lessons from his life to guide their personal and social conduct.

Teachings of the Gita Highlighted

Sunil Yadav, State President of Delhi OBC Morcha, called the Bhagavad Gita the “supreme guide for humanity,” stressing its universal relevance beyond religious boundaries. Other speakers, including Panchal – Pradhan of Arya Samaj Jor Bagh, Mrs. Alpana Vyas, Arun Kapoor, Rohit Raj Verma, Kartar Singh, Sudhir Verma (Program Coordinator), and Harbans Dunkal, reinforced the importance of Vedic philosophy in addressing modern challenges.

The discussions repeatedly returned to the idea that the wisdom of Lord Krishna, combined with the reformist ideals of Arya Samaj, offers a path to both personal fulfillment and collective progress.

The Gita’s central message of focusing on one’s duty without attachment to results was highlighted as a principle that can strengthen both individual character and national development.

Cultural and Spiritual Enrichment

The program was not limited to speeches alone. A soulful bhajan sandhya created an atmosphere of devotion, while the chanting of Vedic mantras and Sanskrit shlokas deepened the spiritual experience for attendees. A traditional Vedic havan was performed, invoking peace and prosperity for all.

The event concluded with the distribution of prasad among participants, marking the completion of the sacred rituals. Devotees expressed their satisfaction, saying that the event not only celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna but also reinforced the eternal value of truth, morality, and service to humanity.

A Gathering of Eminent Personalities

Apart from political leaders and community representatives, the event witnessed the presence of media persons, scholars, women, and youth from across Delhi. Aditya Mishra, Media Incharge of Arya Samaj Jor Bagh, played a key role in coordinating the coverage of the program.

The dignitaries praised the Arya Samaj Mandir for organizing a balanced blend of devotion, culture, and knowledge. They noted that such events are vital in reminding society of India’s spiritual roots and reformist traditions.

Continuing the Legacy of Arya Samaj

Speakers agreed that the principles of Arya Samaj, founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, remain relevant in the 21st century. By emphasizing truth, education, equality, and the study of the Vedas, Arya Samaj has contributed significantly to India’s socio-cultural development.

Events like the Janmashtami celebration, they said, not only honor Lord Krishna but also bring communities closer through shared values of devotion, ethics, and reform.

In essence, the Shri Krishna Janmashtami program at Arya Samaj Mandir, Jor Bagh, served as a reminder of the timeless message of the Bhagavad Gita—a message that continues to inspire society toward righteousness, unity, and progress.
