A forensic report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) has shed new light on the gruesome rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. The report, submitted to the CBI on September 11, revealed that there is no evidence of a struggle or resistance at the crime scene in the seminar room where the doctor’s body was discovered on 9th August 2024.

The CFSL report said that experts from Delhi investigated the hospital’s outskirts on August 14, collecting samples from the alleged crime scene, including a wooden stage mattress in the seminar hall. The report mentions that cut marks on the mattress correspond to the head and lower abdomen area of the victim, but surprisingly, there is no evidence of a struggle between the victim and the assailant.

Furthermore, the forensic analysis found no biological stains on or around the wooden stage or the seminar room floor, except for the mattress. These findings have raised doubts about whether the crime was committed in the seminar hall. The report also questions how the accused, Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer attached to the Kolkata Police, could have entered the seminar hall unnoticed, given the presence of hospital staff and security in the area.

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against Roy, but the case remains shrouded in mystery. The lack of evidence pointing to a struggle or resistance has added to the intrigue, sparking speculation about the actual events surrounding the crime. As the investigation continues, the CFSL report’s findings are likely to be scrutinized further.
