Russia launched drone strikes on residential and commercial buildings, leading to chaos in Ukraine’s national capital Kyiv. Interior sources confirmed the deaths of one woman and two men due debris falling of the drones.
The attack damaged a residential building, eight private houses, commercial buildings, and several private cars. Rescue teams worked tirelessly to retrieve the bodies of the victims as black smoke spewed over the region.
In response to the attack, Ukrainian drones targeted 12 Russian regions, halting work at a micro-electronics factory in the Bryansk region. The Ukrainian air force shot down 25 Russian attack drones over seven regions, including Kyiv and the western Lviv region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized Russia for the attacks and called on Ukraine’s allies to impose tougher sanctions on Moscow. “There must be accountability for every component used in the production of Shahed drones and missiles that are supplied in violation of sanctions,” he said on social media.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed it had repelled a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow, shooting down a total of 121 drones over Moscow, Crimea, and Bryansk.
As tensions rise, efforts are being made to negotiate a peace deal. US President Donald Trump has promised to end the conflict quickly and is pushing Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a settlement, threatening strict economic penalties if he doesn’t.
