Today a Congress delegation led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi among others have been stopped on their way to violence hit Sambhal due to a court order for the survey of a mosque on the claim that previously Harihar temple stood at the site.
The delegation has been stopped by the UP Police after receiving the letter from District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia on Tuesday to stop Rahul Gandhi led delegation as the district has become extremely sensitive.
Section 163 (power to issue an order in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been imposed in Sambhal to ban the entry of outsiders in the district. The curbs initially set to be over on Sunday, December 1 has been extended till December 31.
Following this, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government is infringing on his rights as a Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition by not even allowing him to travel alone, which he claims is a violation of his constitutional rights.
