The Government of India has appointed Sanjay Malhotra, as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India ( RBI). Sanjay Malhotra is succeeding Shaktikanta das whose term ends on December 10, 2024
Malhotra will be serving as 26th governor of the RBI for the term of three years taking his office from Dec 12 2024. As the governor he will be responsible for regulating India’s banking and financial sectors, maintaining price stability, and promoting economic growth.
Sanjay Malhotra is a 1990 batch IAS officer from the rajasthan cadre. He had a distinguished career with expertise spanning public finance, energy reforms, and economic administration. He has played a key role in tax policy formulation and handled key reforms and policy decision in the banking and financial sectors.
Malhotra is an alumni off IIT kanpur and has a master degree in public policy from Princeton University.
India is expecting malhotra s appointment as a starting of new era for RBI , his vast background in public finance and economic administration is expected to influence and guide the RBI’s policies and decisions.
