Saurashtra Express Derails Near Surat, No Casualties Reported

The Dadar-Porbandar Saurashtra Express derailed on Tuesday December 24, at Kim station, near Surat in Gujarat. The train was departing the station at approximately 3:32 PM when at least four wheels of a non-passenger coach went off the tracks.

Senior officers and technical teams promptly reached the site to oversee the damage and restoration process. Fortunately no passenger or staff got injured in the incident. Despite the derailment the train service in that area haven’t been disturbed. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the incident. Authorities haven’t disclosed the number of staffs and passengers on the train.

The train, which runs from Dadar Western to Porbandar, covers a distance of 947 km with 55 halts along the way.
