On Sunday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju made fun of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi by claiming that because she is “new” to parliament, she would not completely get the “nuances” and “deep meaning” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address during the constitution discussion.
He made these comments after Priyanka Gandhi referred to the PM’s address as “boring” on Saturday. According to Rijiju, PM Modi gave facts rather than opinions, and Priyanka Gandhi’s lack of parliamentary experience may have limited her comprehension of the Prime Minister’s remarks.
“PM Modi has explained very well how provisions of the Constitution were diluted, amended, and changed over the last 70 years and during the nearly 60 years of Congress rule to suit the interests of the congress, essentially the family, which is known as the first family of the Congress party. That’s what the Prime Minister said, and he has presented the facts without offering a view,” Rijiju told.
The Gandhi-Nehru family’s history of compromising constitutional protections to further their own interests or political agendas is something that Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi cannot avoid.
Therefore, I am unable to clarify anything further than what the PM has already said. Since Priyanka ji is a rookie MP, I don’t think she really comprehends the annoyances and significance of what the PM said. However, we must respect the Nation’s prime minister since we are all MPs,” he said.
