Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling him “mad,” and urged him to leave politics amid the uproar over his remarks about BR Ambedkar.
According to the former Chief Minister of Bihar, the BJP has “hatred for the downtrodden, the Dalits and the backward whose cause Ambedkar championed, and for the Constitution he drafted, runs in the blood of that party’s leaders” and was inspired by the “Bunch of Thoughts” written by RSS ideologue MS Golwalkar.
“Amit Shah has gone mad. He has a hatred for Babasaheb Ambedkar. We condemn this madness,” Lalu Yadav told reporters. “Babasaheb Ambedkar is great. He (Shah) should renounce politics and leave.”Lalu said. “Even the body language of BJP leaders has become reflective of their hatred,” he said.
Lalu also targeted BJP allies, including Union ministers Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, as well as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who leads the JD(U). “Those who continue to support the BJP even after Ambedkar’s insult shall be deemed to be sycophants and boot-lickers (poojak aur kattar talwa chaatak).”
This came in response to Shah’s statement during Tuesday’s Rajya Sabha Constitution discussion that it had become “fashion” for the Congress to use Ambedkar’s name. Yadav’s comments were a response to Shah’s statements.
Earlier, Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav had before charged Shah and the BJP with inciting enmity and being “anti-constitution.”
