New Delhi: Sindhu Samaj Delhi (Registered) is set to organize the 40-day long Chaliha Mahotsav, a devotional event dedicated to Lord Shri Jhulelal, from July 16 to August 25, 2025.

The spiritual celebration will take place at the Jhulelal Temple in Sindhu Bhawan, located in Purana Rajendra Nagar, New Delhi. The announcement was made during a press conference led by Mr. Jagdish Nagrani, President of Sindhu Samaj Delhi.

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Nagrani said that daily worship rituals will be held at the temple from 7 PM to 8 PM throughout the Chaliha period.

He emphasized the community’s deep reverence for Lord Jhulelal, who is regarded as the incarnation of Varun Devta and revered as the Ishta Dev (patron deity) of the Sindhi community.

Inaugural Ceremony to Witness Political Participation

Sharing further details, Mr. Naresh Kumar Belani, General Secretary of Sindhu Samaj Delhi, said that several prominent political figures are expected to participate in the inaugural ceremony on July 16.

Among the key invitees is the Hon’ble Member of Parliament for the area, Mrs. Bansuri Swaraj, who, along with senior officials from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is likely to attend the opening day of the festivities.

Belani added that the event has also garnered support from various political leaders, including Members of Parliament, MLAs, Municipal Councilors, and other public officials, cutting across party lines. “Many dignitaries have already confirmed their presence to seek blessings of Lord Jhulelal during the 40-day observance,” he stated.

Spiritual Significance of Chaliha

Explaining the significance of the Chaliha period, Mr. Ashok Lalwani, Advisor to Sindhu Samaj Delhi and President of the Sindhi Council of India (North India), highlighted the historical and spiritual importance of the observance.

He recalled that Lord Jhulelal, believed to be a manifestation of Varun Dev, protected Sindhi Hindus from religious persecution in the Sindh region (now in Pakistan) centuries ago.

“Every year, Sindhi communities across the world observe 40 days of worship to honour Lord Jhulelal’s divine intervention and to uphold our cultural and spiritual heritage,” Lalwani noted.

Key Functionaries and Community Participation

The press conference was also attended by other key members of Sindhu Samaj Delhi, including Vice Presidents Mr. Harish Kakwani and Mr. Kishan Jhurani, Treasurer Mr. Kamal Tekchandani, and Additional General Secretaries Mr. Ashok Deep Chandani, Mr. Kamal P. Ramchandani, Mr. Suraj Prakash Tewani, and Dr. Jagdish Bhatia. Executive Member Mr. Manohar Lal Rangwani was also present.

Representatives from the Shankar Road branch of RBL Bank Limited, including Branch Manager Gurjeet Singh, Deputy Branch Manager Ashish Rana, Relationship Managers Ravi Rajhans, Rahul Jha, and Ashmeet Singh, and Regional Manager (TASC) Jayant Asnani, extended their support and participated in the briefing.

Community Bonding Through Devotion

The Chaliha Mahotsav is not only a time of spiritual reflection but also an occasion for community bonding. With daily prayers, devotional songs, and cultural performances expected throughout the 40-day period, Sindhu Samaj Delhi aims to bring together Sindhi families and devotees from across the Capital Region in collective celebration.

The organizers have extended a warm invitation to all devotees and cultural enthusiasts to take part in this significant religious occasion and to experience the enduring legacy of Lord Jhulelal.
