Tamil Director Vignesh Shivan deactivated his account on X raising various speculations for the reason which persuaded him to take this decision. While the account on X has been deactivated, his account on Instagram remains active.
One of the theory prevailing which might be a reason for this step taken by Vignesh is the ongoing legal battle between his wife Nayanthara and actor Dhanush. The battle starts with Dhanush filing a law suit with a compensation of Rs 10 crores against Nayanthara, Vignesh, their production house among others for using a three second footage from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in their Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond Fairytale. Nayanthara retaliates with an open letter accusing Dhanush for using this as a way to take out his personal grudges against them for this reason. She further clarified that the video has been shot on their personal devices and is already publicly present on social media.
Another theory circulating is the backlash faced by Vinesh for being a part of Pan- Indian Director’s Roundtable Discussion. His presence at this discussion is being questioned because it is believed that neither his last film Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022) nor his upcoming film, Love Insurance Kompany, fit into the category of Pan- India.
