Syrian rebels have taken control of Damascus declaring the flee of President Bashar al-Assad from the country on Sunday. This brings an end to the decades of catastrophic rule by Assad’s family.
Syria’s rebel leader Golani has made it clear that the transition will be in order and the country will be governed in the same way. He further said that the future is theirs now.
The Russian Foreign Ministry informed that Assad has left the country and has given orders for a peaceful transition of power. The whereabouts of Assad, his wife Asma along with his two children remain unrevealed.
Syria’s civil war started in 2011 against Assad has finally come to an end. People have been seen celebrating the moment by coming down on the street and firing in the air and the prisoners have also been released.
Prime Minister Al Arabiya, Jalali has been in discussions with the rebels to look after a smooth transition of power. He has also advised to conduct free elections.
However, the future of Syria remains murky with a lot of challenges including maintaining its relations with different groups, organizations and countries.
