  • A low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal/Bihar is weakening but a new cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal may bring scattered heavy rain and gusty west-to-northwest winds of 40–50 km/h to Kolkata and nearby districts between Tuesday–Thursday.

    The monsoon over South Bengal has intensified, prompting an orange alert in Kolkata and adjoining districts for light to moderate thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds on specific days this week.

    • Today (June 23): Thunderstorms with winds of 30–40 km/h, lightning likely in Kolkata.

    • Next 2–3 days: Similar activity across surrounding districts, with heavier spells (7–11 cm rain) possible in nearby areas like North/South 24 Parganas and Howrah.
