Trinamool Congress (TMC) Councillor, Dulal Sarkar, also known as Babla Sarkar was shot dead on Thursday in West Bengal’s Malda district. Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee expressed her shock over the incident.
Sarkar was shot in his head multiple times by bike-borne assailants in the Jhaljhalia More area when he was on the way to his factory from the TMC party office. He was taken to Malda Medical College where he succumbed to his injuries.
CM Mamata Banerjee wrote on X, “My close associate, and a very popular leader, Babla Sarkar has been murdered today.” From the beginning of the Trinamool Congress, he (and his wife Chaitali Sarkar) worked hard for the party, and Babla was also elected a councilor.
Expressing her astonishment over the incident, she added, “I am so shocked and sad that I do not know how to convey my condolences to the bereaved family. May God give Chaitali strength to survive and fight the battle.”
