The US President Donald Trump said he had given his advisors the order to act and threatened that Iran would be “obliterated” if it tried to kill him.
He stated, “If they did that, they would be obliterated,” as he signed an executive order to put Tehran under the greatest amount of pressure. Nothing will remain after this.
Vice President JD Vance would take over as President in the event of Trump’s assassination and would not be obligated to carry out Trump’s orders. Iranian threats against Trump and other politicians have been monitored by federal investigators for years.
Trump oversaw the 2020 attack that killed Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
According to US sources, Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July after security was heightened in response to an Iranian threat against him. Authorities at the time, however, stated that they did not think Iran had anything to do with the murder attempt.
The Justice Department declared in November that it had thwarted an Iranian plan to assassinate Trump prior to the presidential election.
The government claimed that 51-year-old Farhad Shakeri was ordered by Iranian officials in September to carry out surveillance and kill Trump. In Iran, Shakeri is still at large.
Esmail Baghaei, the Spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, denied the accusation, saying it was a scheme by organizations with ties to Israel to sour relations between Iran and the United States.
The accusation claims that Shakeri, who is alleged to be an Iranian government asset, told investigators about the scheme. He was accused of maintaining a network of criminal friends that Tehran had enlisted for surveillance and murder-for-hire schemes, and he had previously served time in American prisons for robbery.
According to a criminal complaint unsealed in federal court in Manhattan, Shakeri, an Afghan national residing in Iran, told the FBI that a contact in Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard had instructed him last September to put aside other work and come up with a plan within seven days to spy on and kill Trump.
Trump has removed Former National Security Advisor John Bolton, his top aide Brian Hook, and Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of their federal security protection. During Trump’s first presidency, all three had been threatened by Iran because of their strong opposition to the Islamic Republic.
