On the first trip after assuming office on January 20, US President Donald Trump along with First Lady Melania Trump visits North Carolina to survey the lasting damage caused due to Hurricane Helene.

He expressed his expectation that other states should “take care of disasters” and shared his review of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which he has frequently criticized and is considering to get rid-of.

He further articulated that states should respond to disasters like tornadoes and hurricanes, among other crises, for a faster resolution.

In his inaugural speech as the President, he voiced his outrage at the ‘mistreatment’ of the victims of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina by FEMA.

Trump had also criticized former President Joe Biden for his administration’s response in North Carolina and directed scorn at California leaders, accusing them of water policies he falsely claimed exacerbated the recent wildfires.

President Trump along with First Lady Melania Trump would also be visiting Los Angeles late Friday to survey the devastation caused by the Southern California wildfires.
