Ukrainian forces attacked a Russian oil facility in Krasnodar Krai and a Buk air defence system in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast overnight on Wednesday, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces stated.
A strike executed by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Defence Forces blazed the Albashneft oil facility in Novominskaya in southwestern Russia, as per the statement.
Krasnodar Krai authorities reported that a Ukrainian drone strike set a fire at an unspecified oil facility that stored a “residual amount” of petroleum product.
The village of Novominskaya is located roughly 250 kilometres from the warfront in Ukraine.
“The hit has been confirmed,” the General Staff said, mentioning the facility as a “mini-refinery” engaged in the supply of gasoline and diesel fuel for Russian forces in Ukraine.
The General Staff also alleged that a successful hit against the Buk system in Zaporizhzhia Oblast occurred, adding that “damage to the target was recorded.”
Ukraine is amplifying long-range drone attacks against Russia in the back, focusing on oil facilities pivotal for supplying the Russian military fuels to run the invasion.
Earlier this week, Ukraine drone strikes reportedly targeted energy facilities in Russia’s Astrakhan and Volgograd oblasts overnight on Monday, resulting in fires at the Lukoil oil refinery in Volgograd and the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant.
