The United States has announced a significant military additional assistance package for Ukraine, valued at $1.25 billion. This package is part of the surge in security assistance announced by President Biden on September 26, and includes a wide range of urgently needed weapons and equipment.
The assistance package includes:
Air Defense Systems: Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (c-UAS) munitions and air defense munitions to help Ukraine protect its skies.
Artillery and Ammunition: Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, and air-to-ground munitions.
Anti-Armor Systems: Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems, as well as Tube-launched, Optically guided, Wire-tracked (TOW) missiles.
Small Arms and Equipment: Ammunition for crew-served weapons, fragmentation grenades, demolitions equipment, and munitions.
Communication and Training: Communication equipment, training software, clothing, and individual equipment.
Spare Parts and Services: Spare parts, ancillary equipment, services, training, and transportation.
This significant assistance package demonstrates the United States’ commitment to supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s aggression. The US is not alone in its support, with more than 50 nations standing united to ensure Ukraine has the capabilities it needs to defend itself.
President Biden has emphasized the importance of providing Ukraine with the support it needs to prevail, and has directed his administration to continue surging assistance to Ukraine as quickly as possible.
