Outgoing US President Joe Biden declared on Monday that the US was “winning the worldwide competition” in his farewell policy speech before Donald Trump’s inauguration. As a key component of his one-term Presidency, Biden aimed to present his efforts to fortify the US’s international ties.

Biden remarked, “The United States is winning the worldwide competition compared to four years ago,” after he got a standing ovation from State Department officials. “America is stronger. Our alliances are stronger, our adversaries and competitors are weaker,” he said.

One week prior to Donald Trump’s return to the White House, Joe Biden made a final foreign policy statement on Monday, stating that America was more powerful on the world stage than it has been in decades.

Further, Biden maintained that the United States would continue to be the leading powerhouse in the world and that China would “never surpass us.”

The departing US President outlined his foreign legacy in a speech at the State Department, criticizing Russia, China, and Iran while urging the West to continue supporting Ukraine.

As he praised his efforts to mend international ties over the past four years following his Republican opponent’s turbulent first term, Biden’s unspoken target was Trump.

Washington’s complicated relationship with Beijing, he continued, “never tipped over into conflict” during his four years in office.

Biden also spoke about the fall of Afghanistan’s US-backed government to the Taliban and the bloody US withdrawal of 2021.
