The Indian government has appointed Dr. V Narayanan as the next chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), effective January 14. He will succeed the current ISRO chief, S. Somnath.
Dr. Narayanan, a distinguished scientist at ISRO, brings nearly four decades of experience in the Indian space program to his new role. Currently serving as the Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), he has held various key positions within ISRO, showcasing his expertise in rocket and spacecraft propulsion.
As a renowned expert in his field, Dr. Narayanan has played a crucial role in developing India’s cryogenic propulsion systems. His contributions have enabled India to become one of the select countries with advanced cryogenic propulsion capabilities.
Under his leadership, the LPSC has delivered 164 liquid propulsion systems for 41 launch vehicles and 31 spacecraft missions over the past five years. Dr. Narayanan’s experience and expertise make him an ideal candidate to lead ISRO into its next phase of growth and development.
