Indian Railways is poised to revolutionize travel in Jammu & Kashmir as new two trains were introduced. Soon, a dedicated Vande Bharat Express and a centrally heated sleeper train are anticipated to begin service, enhancing passenger comfort and connectivity even more.

A sleeper train with central heating will run for 13 hours between New Delhi and Srinagar, via snow-capped Himalayas and the 359-meter-high Chenab Bridge, the tallest railway arch bridge in the world. Although the train will be extremely comfortable, second-class sleeping cars will not be available.

Vande Bharat Express: Katra to Baramulla route

The Indian Railways will launch an eight-coach Vande Bharat Express with chair car seating for the 246-kilometer Katra-Baramulla segment.

Special Features:

  • To avoid freezing, use silicone heating pads.
  • Toilet that circulates hot air through ducts that have been carefully built.
  • The Loco Pilot’s windshield has heating components to keep it from freezing in extremely cold temperatures.
  • Shorter travel time: Compared to the present 10-hour bus ride, the train will finish the trip in just three and a half hours

There is currently a 16-coach Vande Bharat Express service from Katra, a popular pilgrimage site that serves as the entryway to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, in New Delhi. Passengers on the Katra-Baramulla line will be able to connect seamlessly thanks to the new Vande Bharat.

Easy transfers: Travelers can take the current Vande Bharat Express from New Delhi to Katra, then switch to the new train to get to Srinagar or Baramulla.

By the end of next month, the Katra-Baramulla Vande Bharat service should be up and running, providing locals, pilgrims, and visitors with a quicker and more comfortable way to travel.
