West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a fiery speech gave a befitting reply in the West Bengal Assembly today, responded to provocative remarks made by Bangladeshi politicians who claimed their country had legitimate territorial rights over parts of India, including Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha and wondered whether Indians “would have lollipop” when external forces would try to occupy Indian lands.

Taking a dig at a section of Bangladeshi politicians, she stated that West Bengal will always support whatever decision made by the Center. Further, she asked people to maintain their composure and not be offended by remarks made in Bangladesh.

She emphasised the need for peace and unity, adding, “Stay calm, stay healthy, and maintain peace of mind”. The CM responded that irrespective of caste, creed, the people stand united here. Further, she added that the Trinamool Congress will follow the guidelines of the Ministry of External Affairs.

“West Bengal is the first state in the country where people irrespective of caste, creed or community staged collective protest against the situation in Bangladesh,” the chief minister said.
